Is this a good beginning (It is to leave an air of mystery around the main character).
As he stood there, his blue eyes glazed, golden hair blown back, sweat dripping from his brow as he panted heavily, he tried to recollect what had occurred just a kilometer away. Standing in the middle of town, he wondered what he had just gotten himself into yet again…

Not that bad, but a little too much description at the beginning without saying enough. You've described too broadly in a short amount of time without focusing on much. Either stick with describing his features, or allude to a little before continuing. "...his blue eyes glazed below his sweaty brow" (or something similar), omitting the golden hair bit would flow better.

Or describe a good chunk of him before continuing on. You went too in-depth with too little result, you get what I mean?

Also the shift in tenses puts things off a little (from "standing" to "wondered", present to past tense, in the same sentence). It *sounds* good, but professional editors really pay attention to that sort of thing.

Technical issues aside, I'm interested in where things will go and would definitely like to read more.
