My son refuses to eat anything but peanut butter crackers, potato chips and fruit snacks?
How can I get him to eat the things that we eat without it being a battle at the dinner table? He throws his plate if it is something that he does not like and I am getting tired of having to make a special plate just for him any suggestions? He is three years old and has been doing this for as long as I can remember.
You trained him, Mom. Now you have to retrain him.
First, tell him that, starting tomorrow, he will have to eat what everyone else eats. Tell him what will happen if he throws his plate. Let him know that he doesn't have to eat what you serve, but you won't make him anything special - it's what you serve or nothing. Remind him of this throughout the day, especially when you're feeding him his typical diet.
Then, stick to it. You'll have a couple of difficult days, and he will probably skip a couple of meals, but then it will be over.
