Candied Yams vs. Stuffing: Is Candied Yams The Real Holiday Side Dish Champion?
What’s the latest food fight brewing? Candied yams and holiday stuffing or dressing, has enjoyed a long but friendly feud on whose the most popular when it comes to side dishes on your holiday table. After this exhaustive research it seems candied yams has more articles post, more reader page views, more search queries and more recipes than stuffing. As shocking as it may first sound, given the traditional prestige stuffing has had for so long, this represents a paradigm shift in people's eating habits. With more people watching their diets, their weight and their health in general, stuffing is not as popular now as it was in the past. Less people find it as appealing because of the high calorie content, which can be as high as 300 calories when prepared in the traditional way, with traditional ingredients. In addition, stuffing has the dubious reputation of giving some people the drowsies after eating.
The Story Behind The Surprising Results
Contrast that with the candied yam recipe, this dish seems to attract the new generation of eaters more. One because of the many ways you can prepare this dish. You can prepare it in the traditional manner, with loads of sugar, butter, cinnamon or nutmeg. Or like many health enthusiast use organic honey, and orange juice instead of sugar.
