An Explanation Of Danish Design
Modern Danish Furniture appeared in the course of Europe’s post war rebirth, and promptly was received as the signature expression for fashionable 20th century home furnishings. Thanks to its thoroughly contemporary yet timeless style, this form of furniture remains rather trendy today.
The ageless characteristic of Danish design is probably attributable to the clear contours and total deficiency of artwork which characterize these furnishings. Even sofas with brilliantly colored materials have very clean shapes so the pieces seem to be created from a single piece of foam rather than a block of wood.
Although Danish furniture presently serves a worldwide market, the place which imports the biggest amount of Danish home furniture is Germany, which buys close to six times the volume of furnishings from Denmark as the United States will.
