2,100 gallon cup of coffee made in huge mug
The Guinness World Records has just finalized compiling content for their account of the record breaking feats that happened in 2010. Ryan Abood is just one of many thrilled individuals who will have their names included in the Guinness World Records.
His accomplishment? He and a team of fifteen made the largest mug of coffee ever in a massive mug (no, regrettably it was not in a bucket mug) . 2,010 gallons of Colombian Arabica mix coffee was pumped at 3 gallons per second into the massive coffee cup in giant hoses. It was the equivalent of roughly 32,160 normal sized cups of coffee.
Quite an success to be sure, but Mr Abood was not content and still had an over 2,000 gallon mug just sitting there (Would anybody offer to shift a mug that huge?). Recognizing they had a very good chance of breaking the iced coffee record, they decided to try again.
It is tempting to believe think it would be basically no different than hot coffee, but it most certainly is. Guinness World Record rules state that for it to be considered iced coffee it must have a temperature of 45 degrees farenheit when it was completed being poured (which needed an entire day). Fortunately they were successful in spite of the troubles inherent in making a 2,000 gallon cup of coffee.
The timing of the incredibly caffeinated achievements was well thought out. He created substantial buzz about his company prior to Christmas; the most crucial time of the year for a variety of retailers, especially for those who sell products like porcelain tableware.
