How To Make Duvet Covers
Have you been playing around with the idea of making yourself a duvet cover? Well this article has been written just for you. You need to read the article right through to the end to benefit from its valuable tips.
There are a number of alternative ways to make duvet covers. My focus will be on just one specific one. Let me just ease your possible worry – Making a duvet cover is not hard but you do need to follow all the steps that are discussed below. Here is the first thing you need to do, choose the fabric you will be using. make sure you have a take measure for measurements that is you will have to measure the length and the width. You need to know the size of the bed you will be using it on. For example, Are you going to be using it on a single bed, queen, twin or double?
Now here is my advice. Two things, look for a washable material and (2) make sure it does offer some decorative appeal. I suggest you go for a lightweight fabric that will feel comfortable. Of course you need to take the weather and climatic conditions of your area into consideration.
Start by choosing two lengths of fabric spanning about 54 inches. It is always good to make it slightly wider. You will be using these for the front part. Make sure that each of the panels is equal to the length measurement discussed above.
-Look for fabric that is a home decorator. make these about fifty four inches wider. Chances are your duvet is wider. if you do have a wider duvet you can just purchase another panel of material.
-Now you must think about patterns and prints that you like. depending on the type of prints you will go for some adjustments may be necessary. For example, you may have to elongate your panels.
-Prewash and iron the fabric.
-Now simply fold the front panel in half lengthwise.
-You may need to use an iron to make some sharp creases at the folds. Once you’ve done the ironing you may then unfold the fabric.
-Do this to the back panels as well.
-Draw a line that goes right down along the length of the panel where the crease is. You will need a fabric marking pen and a yard stick for this task.
-Cut out each line to make six panels. That is, 3 shall be for the back and then three for the front of the duvet cover.
-Once you have done all that the other thing to do on how to make duvet covers is to just pin one panel that’s narrow to one part of the visible side or front rather that is uncut. pin it down so that all the edges of the material are tightly knit together and the sides of the fabric are also together.
What I have just said will take you miles ahead in your duvet cover making. The missing parts in this article are left out because the rest of the work from here on can be customized to suite your own individual taste.
