The decorations and colours differ in the various regions of the Provence. There are delicate designs in the Drome Valley with their typical crème colours mixed with blues and reds while further south one finds much deeper colours. Vallauris is one of the villages with fire red, ocean blue and honey yellow hand painted ceramics. All of which are ideal home accessories and are user friendly, ie usable in the dishwasher and microwave. This lovely village is located just 20 minutes North of Cannes and was the home to Pablo Picasso for almost 10 years. Then one goes further West towards Aix-en-Provence and finds a mix of home accessories between the South and Centre of the Provence. Together with the wonderful food and wine of the Provence, served on and in gorgeous hand crafted and hand decorated ceramics, one does not tire of travelling around and discovering more and more villages dedicated to pottery.
