Duvet Cover Making
Have you been playing around with the idea of making yourself a duvet cover? Then you are just the right person to read this article. Just take a note pad and a pen and read through this article right to the end.
There are a number of alternative ways to make duvet covers. My focus will be on just one specific one. Let me just ease your possible worry – Making a duvet cover is not hard but you do need to follow all the steps that are discussed below. With this you don’t have to go aroud looking for discount duvet covers or branded ones line king size duvet covers pottery barn kids
First thing first, choose the fabric you will be using. You will also have to take some measurements i.e. the width and the length using a tape measure. You need to know the size of the bed you will be using it on. For example, is it a queen, king, twin or single bed?
Now here is my advice. Two things, look for a washable material and (2) make sure it does offer some decorative appeal. light weight material is usually more appealing. Of course you need to take the weather and climatic conditions of your area into consideration.
Now you need to choose two lengths of fabric that should be about 54 inches wide. You can even make it a bit wider. You will be using these for the front part. Make sure that each of the panels is equal to the length measurement discussed above.
-Look for fabric that is a home decorator. These should be about 54 inches wide that is able to cover a duvet cover to 104 inches wide. If you duvet is wider then make them wider as well. In this case simply buy another panel of fabric for each of the duvet sides.
-The next thing to consider is prints and patterns. depending on the type of prints you will go for some adjustments may be necessary. for instance, you may have to elongate your panels.
-The next step is to pre-wash and then iron the material.
-Now simply fold the front panel in half lengthwise.
-You may need to use an iron to make some sharp creases at the folds. It will then be easy to continue once you’ve done that.
-Do this to the back panels as well.
-Draw a line that goes right down along the length of the panel where the crease is. You will need a fabric marking pen and a yard stick for this task.
-Cut out each line to make six panels. i.e., 3 shall be used on the back side and then 3 for the front of the duvet cover.
-Once you have done all that the other thing to do on your project of making a duvet cover is to simply take one panel and pin it, make sure it is that one that’s narrow to one part of the visible side or front rather that is uncut. Make sure that is it is pinned such that all fabric edges are lined up & make sure that the sides are also lined up quite as well.
These tips provided above should be enough for you to create your own duvet cover. The missing parts in this article are left out because the rest of the work from here on can be customized to suite your own individual taste.
