There are certain things all dancers do wrong, whether it is only one from this list or many, it can impact how much you make a nite, or over the course of the week. If you can eliminate all of these things on this list, you will be ahead of your peers, and will be on your way to making more money.
1. Thinking every girl is going to be your friend. In this business you learn that the only person you can trust 100% is yourself. If everyone thinks you are ignorant and trusting, they will take advantage of you and take everything they can from you. Your best friend is you. You know yourself way better then you know any of the people you work with. This business can be very cut throat, and letting someone take advantage of you not only hurts financially, but also can hurt your attitude and self confidence. Don’t let anyone take that away from you.
2. Never Go Home with a Customer! Yeah he or she might be cute, cocky and wanna make all your problems go away, but he won’t. Customers are in love with the idea of you, not the person you actually are. And some guys might seem nice but in reality could be some crazy stalker that will kidnap you or worse. Or he may just want to con you out of your hard earned money and leave you stranded in St. Louis. (this has happened to me!) Learn from others mistakes and you will be well ahead of the game.
3. Don’t Date Co-workers or Other Dancers! Other dancers and co-workers have been in the game longer than you have and dating them is probably not a good idea. Some bouncers and bartenders think that sleeping with as many dancers as possible is a game. They have great game and they will say anything to get into your pants. Dating other dancers is way worse than co-workers because dancers can be vendictive and conniving and extremely jealous. Jealousy always leads to fights in this business and there never small ones. Shoes and weave usually go flying. So to avoid the stitches and the black eyes, don’t mess with other dancers, bouncers, bosses and bartenders.
4. Never Leave Your Money Out in the Open! Some girls are so desperate to be after that dollar, that they will snatch up the money that you have worked so hard for. When you’re on stage or working the floor, always have your money in hand or in a secure purse or Crown Royale bag. Girls and customers will both pick up a purse and walk away with it. This has happened to me too. A club that I had worked at and trusted had some new girls that I didn’t know and I set my purse down for a second to get dressed and it was gone. I knew it was one of the new girls because we were in the dressing room when it happened. Don’t always keep all your money on you at the same time, a bank account works fantastic to keep you secure and safe.
5. Hustle Your Ass Off! Most dancers on a dead night will sit on their ass and complain that they aren’t making any money. Even if there aren’t a ton of customers in the club, the guys who are in there are usually there to spend money. Even if you have to sit and talk to a guy for awhile, they will be more willing to spend some cash if they are comfortable with you and think that you’re interested in conversation, not just their money. If you are used to hustling and it becomes second nature, you will make alot of money in a real big hurry.
6. Don’t Wear Too Much Make-up or Jewelry! Some girls will wear ALOT of make-up and look like circus clowns. Most guys like girls that are naturally beautiful and not trashy. Girls who cake on blue lipstick and gaudy sparkly eyeshadow don’t look pretty, they look like a cheap whore. Natural beauty will get to alot farther in this business then caking on the shit load of make-up some girls do. Wearing to much jewelry is not attracrive either. If when you dance, you jingle, you are wearing WAY too much jewelry. A braclete is cool but don’t wear 5-10 because they bang around when you’re dancing and its hard to focus on the dancer. Customers are distracted by the noise. Wearing giant earrings is not becoming on anyone. They make your head look funny. Come on ladies, if you’re pretty, don’t go over board with something that’s supposed to accent you’re beauty, not cover it up.
7. Don’t Avoid a Customer Who Isn’t Your Type! Guys who don’t appeal to your sexual preference don’t always think the same of you. The nerdy looking guys have money and they just need a beautiful women to charm it out of them. In my experiance, the kids who look like virgins usually are. Those guys make the best repeat customers because they will bring their whole pay checks just to impress you. When a guy runs out of money, don’t treat them like shit because they will come back and bring you more money.
8. Don’t Get Angry if Someone Says No! For every one customer that tells you no, there are five more that will tell you yes. So if you’re having a bad night, don’t get discouraged. Everyone has bad nights, even girls who have been in the game for 5, 10 or even 20 years. It gets better, I promise. Sometimes a guy will turn you down because they are intimidated by the way you dance or how pretty you are. Just let them know that you’re not going to kick their ass or that you’re not a stuck up bitch. When they are not intimidated, they will spend money.
9. Don’t Get Too Drunk at Work! Being the drunk chick at work might be fun then, but when you’re hungover the n makext day and realize that you didn’t make any money the night before, it makes it that much worse. If the bartender is feeding you shots and customers are buying you shots, it’s always good to remember that you’re responsible for you and that shots should be taken in moderation. You make more money when you’re not really drunk and work is alot more fun because you get to laugh at all the other drunk people. If you are going to drink, remember to always watch you’re drink or just stick with shots, it’s safer because no one can drop something in you’re drink. It’s not just a scary story either. It really happens.
10. Show Up to Work On Time! It’s a fun interesting job that has alot of freedom, but it’s still a job. You have alot of freedom and you are your own boss, but you can lose alot of face by not showing up to work on time. Besides, if you’re there then you can make money instead of not being there and missing an early bachelor party or a really good customer. If you’re reliable, the boss will be more likely to forgive you and give you the full base pay.
That’s all I have ladies, just learn from my mistakes and you will make lots of money in this buisness. Thanks.

Duets: An American Classic $4.93 At this point, who else but Tony Bennett would have the clout to round up stars on the scale of Elton John, Paul McCartney, Bono, Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand for some duets? The material consists of relatively obvious classics in standard big-band arrangements, and Bennett hims... |
